Bernard and Joyce would value prayer for Bernard's health as he has suffered a mild stroke. He has been able to visit
the clinic at Kitwe for tests and is currently resting before returning to Ikelenge.

An outbreak of elephantitis in parts of Zambia has been giving concern in the orphan village in Ikelenge but they
have received tablets to prevent the disease and are grateful for the prayers of all their friends.

David Sherwood from Castlefields Chapel, Derby, is visiting Bernard & Joyce to see their work at first hand and
encourage them that they are remembered in prayer by many folk back in the UK.

The orphan village in Ikelenge has received a further 5 children to care for. They now have 46 children in total.

News from Ikelenge: Joyce has passed her driving test and will be able to help Bernard with some of the driving
and journeys that need to be undertaken.

Items are being collected to meet the some of the needs of believers in Sri Lanka. The next shipment takes place
during May and items need to be ready for packing during the first week of May.

Bernard is returning from Zambia this month for cataract surgery in both eyes. He has been experiencing eyesight
difficulties for some time and a recent consultation in Lusaka identified the cataracts.
*UPDATE* Having had his consultation in the UK, it appears that Bernard's eye problems are due to Macular degeneration rather than the cataracts and sadly the proposed cataract operation would not improve his eyesight.

Our friends in Sri Lanka are suffering again from severe flooding and are in need of prayer and material
support. "Care Sri Lanka" are channelling gifts to help with the many needs.
Goods for the children's work in Ikelenge are being collected and packed ready for shipping to Zambia. The usual items of children's clothes, school materials, and tinned or dried food parcels are all welcome. It is hoped that the boxes will be ready for shipping by the end of December.

Bernard has been able to acquire this lorry with the gifts received. It is expected that
this will enable the pineapple harvests to be transported to market and provide a service
for transporting supplies for local villagers and farmers.

Bernard's vehicle is in need of replacement after its punishing life on the Zambian roads.
A fund has been started to help provide a suitable and reliable vehicle.
